Just Paws Core
Values
- Just Paws strongly values, supports and
encourages pet adoption through rescue organizations and shelters. All of Just
Paws Owner's pets are rescue kitties and are wonderful, kind and loving
companions. There are so many wonderful animals at shelters and rescue
organizations needing loving "forever" homes. Though all animals need homes,
Just Paws strongly advocates pet adoption through shelters and rescues as
opposed to breeders. Please support your local shelter and/or rescue
organizations by volunteering with them, adopting your pets through them, or
both.
- Just Paws strongly values and recommends
spaying or neutering of your companion animals to help control the pet
population and to help keep your pet(s) in the best possible health.
- Just Paws strongly values feeding your
pet(s) a good, healthy diet that is biologically appropriate for them.
Outstanding canned, dry and raw foods with no by-products, fillers or
preservatives, are available at local stores such as Pro Feed, Inc. in Vienna,
VA. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and able to answer any
questions you may have and recommend the best food for your pet(s).
- Just Paws strongly values providing your
pet with daily exercise and play. This keeps both your pet, and you, healthy
and happy!
- Just Paws strongly values and encourages
the practice of NOT
de-clawing cats. This ensures they keep their ability to stretch and to defend
themselves if they are ever lost outside their homes.
- Just Paws strongly supports in-home
vacation pet sitting and overnight pet sitting as opposed to boarding pets at
a kennel. This keeps them in familiar surroundings (their home), minimizing
their anxiety, ensures that their daily routines are followed while you are
away, and assists in crime deterrence for extra peace of mind, by providing
your home with a lived-in look through rotating lights, curtains and blinds
and retrieving newspapers and mail.
- Just Paws strongly values and supports
Fairfax County's mandatory dog-leash laws and laws governing cleaning up
after your pets. Keeping dogs on leashes when they are outside in non-fenced
areas is essential for their safety, as well as the safety of other dogs and
pedestrians. It also helps to keep them safer on busy streets where cars
coming and going are prevalent. Cleaning up after your pets keeps our
environment cleaner and more pleasant for all
concerned.
